Yes, I'm an unabashed fan.

I consider Wil Wheaton to be an awesomely descent human being.

That's it.

I really paid little attention to his career as a child actor. Although I'm a fan of Star Trek, his appearance there wasn't particularly interesting to me. I'm not even one of those folks who loathed Wesley Crusher.

No, I'm a fan of Wil Wheaton on account of just four words.

"Don't be a dick."

You see, I am a fan of Wil Wheaton because he is, as I said, awesomely descent.

Like me, Wil Wheaton knows a thing or two about personal struggles with depression. He knows that depression lies and isn't afraid to talk about it.

Science fiction writer Spider Robinson once wrote that just as there are laws of conservation of mass and energy, there are laws of conservation of pain and joy. "Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased—thus do we refute entropy." And Wil Wheaton has done his bit to refute entropy, by lessening the pain in the world.

This is why Wil Wheaton is the Best Person Ever.
